Houlihan’s

The co-founders bought a Kansas City haberdashery called Tom Houlihan’s Men’s Wear in 1972. It was named Houlihan’s Old Place by the architect of the remodel project. The name stuck. With reasonable menu items and competitive drink prices, it appeared Houlihan’s was doing everything right. But not everything is as it seems. Houlihan’s has been saddled with a debt of over $47 million, primarily from a 2015 loan which is due this 2020. The restaurant apparently has not been making payments since 2018, and sales have declined drastically, and several closures have been evident. This is sad news for those who still consider the place their go-to happy-hour spot, but sad things do happen. Hope we don’t see the last of the Houlihan’s.
