Exploring such a beautiful country like Jamaica on your own while backpacking may seem exciting, safe and fun. However, tourists are discouraged from doing so. Especially if you are inexperienced and it is your first time to visit the country. This is in accordance with the previous advice that you should not share rides alone with strangers. This is because backpackers are prime targets of criminals in Jamaica. Since backpackers are often vulnerable and have minimal knowledge of the area. It is recommended and would also be safer to create an itinerary that would visit highly populated areas instead of choosing to go to places that are “off the beaten path”.
