Batgirl, Yvonne Craig (1967)

Independent

Among the few actresses fortunate to have donned the mask of Batgirl, including Alicia Silverstone in Batman and Robin, Dina Meyer in Birds of Prey (although the series focused more on Barbara Gordon’s role as Oracle), and Rosario Dawson in The Lego Batman Movie, it was Yvonne Joyce Craig from the 1960s camp style, live-action TV series “Batman” who wore the bright purple and yellow Batsuit to perfection.
The American ballet dancer and actress is best known for her role as Batgirl where she stars alongside Adam West and Burt Ward who play Bruce Wayne/Batman and Dick Grayson/Robin respectively. When she’s not busy fighting crime with Batman and Robin, Barbara Gordon, the commissioner’s daughter, works as a librarian. Batgirl was the first superheroine to have a recurring role on television.
After Batman, Yvonne Craig appeared as Marta, the green-skinned Orion slave in an episode of Star Trek, and had guest roles in action-adventure, crime, detective, and drama television series.
