The First African American Bond Girl, Trina Parks (1971)

Trina Parks joined Hollywood royalty portraying the incredibly sculpted Thumper, opposite Sean Connery, in the 1971 007 film Diamonds Are Forever. She holds the title as the first black Bond Girl playing the secret agent’s bikini-clad bodyguard nemesis. Even though Trina did not land the role as one of James Bond’s many love interests, she made an impact (along with a literal one) when she kicked the main protagonist where it hurt, right smack in the groin. Her background as a dancer and choreographer helped her in the scene where she had to rough up Bond with a well-aimed kick before fluidly flipping him into a nearby swimming pool. Trina was instructed not to pull her punches, and the director assured her that Sean Connery was well-protected, so, she pulled off the most realistic strike she could and kicked Bond as hard as the script demanded.
