The stunning Jane Seymour portrayed the theater actress Elise McKenna, starring with Christopher Reeve and Christopher Plummer, in the 1980 American romantic fantasy drama film Somewhere in Time. The movie was inspired by Richard Matheson’s novel Bid Time Return whose main female protagonist was based on Maude Adams, the first actress to play Peter Pan. Even though the film adaptation was made with a significantly limited budget, Jane eagerly accepted the role because she identified with the character and it was a needed break from her earlier work on stage. Despite initial unfavorable reviews from critics, the film about a playwright who becomes obsessed with the picture of a young woman at the Grand Hotel soon became a cult classic.
