Wonder Woman Begins Her Battle, Lynda Carter (1976)

Lynda Carter competed in the Battle of the Network Stars, a series of contests where television stars from different networks competed in various sporting events. Lynda Carter, alongside other celebrities such as Farrah Fawcett, Ron Howard, and Penny Marshall, was among the ten stars that formed team ABC, the network that won the first episode. The American actress, singer-songwriter, model, and beauty pageant titleholder trained hard to compete on the obstacle course and in the swimming relay. She prepared before sunrise to stay in perfect shape for the competition and for her role as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, the star of the American live-action TV series based on the DC superheroine of the same name. Lynda Carter’s portrayal of the Amazon princess endeared her to many fans and critics, and she continues to be closely identified with the wielder of the Lasso of Truth to this day.
