The exquisite Grace Kelly is regarded as one of the most beautiful women of all time, and the gown she wore when she married the Prince of Monaco Rainier III is considered the most beautiful wedding dress in history. The magnificent gown was designed by Helen Rose, MGM Studios’ costume designer, and it took 36 seamstresses six weeks to finish it. Grace and her prince had two weddings; she wore a pale pink taffeta dress to their civil ceremony and the gorgeous satin and lace number to the religious rite which was attended by 600 guests and viewed by 30 million people around the world.
Perfect for a princess, Grace’s wedding gown was made from 100 yards of silk net, 25 yards of silk taffeta, 800,000 sequins, 1,500 pearls and rhinestones, and Brussels lace that was over a century old. She also wore 90 yards of tulle veil and a cap decorated with seed pearls. Of course, the bride made sure that her six bridesmaids also looked glamorous with their yellow silk organdy over a yellow silk taffeta underdress.
