Spotting the Error

Defense

How do the Americans make the error? First of all, the information that they had relied upon came from the Japanese records. As they looked closer, they realized that a single digit in a map reference had been erroneously transcribed when they translated the stored document. In truth, the Grayback was actually far from the assumed location. It wasn’t until 2018, when American ocean explorer Tim Taylor had decided to reexamine the case that questions were finally answered. Taylor is actually the founder of the Lost 52 Project. They worked not just to search for the Grayback, but to also look for the 52 submarines that disappeared without trace during the war. To date, they have recovered five lost subs.
