A mainstay of the U.S. women’s national team, Alexandra Morgan Carrasco, or Alex Morgan, is a professional football player who recently signed up for the Tottenham Hotspur of the English FA Women’s Super League. She was the youngest member of the USWNT in 2009, which she eventually co-captained in 2019, helping the team capture back to back titles in the 2015 and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in addition to their gold medal finish at the 2012 London Olympics. Alex recently earned an ESPY award for Best Female Athlete in 2019, finished third in the Ballon d’Or awards the same year, and was twice named US Soccer Athlete of the Year, in 2012 and 2018. She was the first overall pick in the Women’s Professional Soccer league draft in 2011, playing for the Western New York Flash until she joined the National Women’s Soccer League’s Seattle Sounders Women the following year. She then moved to the Orlando Pride where she’s been playing the last four years prior to signing with Tottenham as a result of the current pandemic.
