Howling Or Barking

Howling is a dog’s way of vocalizing, and they do this for a number of reasons. It serves as a homing beacon for pack members or as a way for pets to sort of call their owners home. It also announces their presence and tells other dogs approaching that the area is already occupied or claimed, but it is also a means to attract attention or express their anxiety, emotional, or physical pain. It may also be alert their owner or companion of danger. Mostly, they are resonating or identifying with a wave or sound that they hear in their environment, such as ambulance or police sirens, or even people imitating the howling of a wolf. Most won’t be able to resist in joining, allowing them to link or establish a bond with other dogs.
