Wagging Their Tail

amazonaws

People often confuse a dog wagging its tail as being happy. This is not the case and can get you in trouble should you try approaching one. The dog’s tail is primarily for balance, whether he’s running, walking along narrow paths, and even swimming, but it also uses its tail to convey its mood or to communicate. As such, you should look at the entire animal’s disposition, while also considering the manner in which it is wagging its tail, as it has different meanings. A few studies have found that wagging more on the right side indicates that the dog is more relaxed, while a dog wagging its tail more to the left side of its body may indicate that the dig is alert or stressed. A slow wag may also be a sign that a dog is unsure about a situation, while an energetic wagging from side to side, particularly when accompanied by licking, is a sign of greeting.
