Why Dogs Stick Their Heads Out Of Car Windows

When you take your dog with you for a ride, you will notice that they are eager to look out of the windows. Drop the windows enough and they will surely stick their heads out. Why are they doing this? It’s due mainly to two reasons: first, they are visually curious, and sticking their heads out allows them to have unobstructed views of the surroundings while also enjoying a nice breeze. Second, it’s like they are having a sensory overload or all-you-can-smell buffet given their extraordinary olfactory membranes. When the air moves over these membranes, odor molecules come in contact with the scent receptors, so the more air there is flowing, the more scents the dog detects.
