One of the most common games that dogs love to play is fetch. Some dogs seem to enjoy fetching so much that they could go all day playing. Whether it’s a stick or a ball, they will chase it, and bring it back. Dogs were first domesticated thousands of years ago, when they were first trained to help in hunting. This has become part of their genetic makeup, and a lot of dogs, especially the Labradors, were specifically bred to retrieve things. Fetching is also said to make dogs feel good, not just because of the exercise that improves their mood, but because it allows them to show you what their capabilities are. And when you reward or praise them for bringing back whatever object you threw, it strengthens that trait further.
