Tilting Their Heads

You might think that your dog is trying to look cute when she tilts her head when you talk to them or when something catches their attention, but that is not the case. She already is, but there’s a few reasons dogs tilt their heads. One is to hear better, as tilting their head allows them to adjust their pinnae, or outer ears, so they can better tune it to the source of the sound. Another reason is to improve their vision. They are better able to see or read our expression when they tilt their head and move their muzzle of their field of vision. This habit is more common with puppies as well as for dogs with longer muzzles.
