Scooting Their Butts On The Ground

You might find the sight of a dog scooting or dragging its butt on the floor hilarious, but there are serious reasons why they are doing this, and most of them impacts their health. While the reason can be behavioral, such as when they continue doing it because they think they’re getting a positive reaction from you when they do it, mostly it’s because of the following: they might have inflamed or infected anal sacs, which is the most common reason, but it can also be due to diarrhea, dingleberries, parasites or tapeworms, irritated genitals, and allergies, particularly when coupled with excessive chewing on their paws or licking their skin, all of which would require a visit to the vet.
