Presumably the Mona Lisa of really bad cars, it was built in Soviet-bloc Yugoslavia. It will always be among the worst cars ever manufactured. Interestingly, it was sold in the US from 1985 until 1992, for around $4,000, but it was worth 1/10th of that price. Why anyone would want to buy it was a puzzle. It had a 1.1 liter engine that generated 55 horsepower. It was notorious for several faults, such as the engine just exploding, and the electrical system going haywire. It had a rear-window defroster, and carpeting. The carpet accumulates smells, and the Yugo eventually smelled bad. It felt like a car manufactured at gunpoint, and most likely anyone who bought this jalopy would point a gun to themselves.
