Ford Excursion 2000

If you wanted a big vehicle, this was it. It is a heavy-duty, extended-length sports utility vehicle for the larger North American people. It weighed about 7,000 pounds, almost 19 feet long, and stood 6.5 feet tall. Ford argued that many of the customers – farmers, ranchers, and so on, wanted a vehicle with over 10,000 pound towing capacity. True, but that didn’t stop bored housewives from driving them around. It pioneered what is known as the blocker bar, a kind of under-vehicle roll bar designed to keep the Excursion from rolling over anything unfortunate enough to be hit by it. If Ford explained that it was needed by ranchers, and others who wanted great towing power, why then was it the lowest selling Ford? The Excursion was eventually withdrawn after the 2005 model, though a short 2006 run was made for Mexico.
