After going 10 years without encountering any untoward incidents, Nepal Airlines’ luck struck-out.
The South Asian flag carrier’s unblemished record between the years 2000 and 2010, went up in flames after 3 of its planes crashed in the years following their lucky stretch. The worst of these accidents happened on February 16, 2014 when Nepal Airlines flight 183 disappeared from radar en route to Jumla, Nepal. It was later confirmed that the ill-fated flight crashed in Argakhachi, Nepal, killing all 18 souls on board.
Because of this, the airline was banned from flying to Europe as it was unable to satisfy the minimum safety standard required by the EU for commercial airliners.
