In fairness to the vehicle (and some buyers), the Nissan Frontier is considered to be a reliable pickup truck. However, the 2006 model was plagued with transmission issues, and was recalled around seven times. Three of the 7 times it was recalled, created tremendous problems for Nissan. Reports of failures of the engine, fuel system, and suspension, were said to lead to crashes. The cooling system also leaked into the transmission causing the transmission failure. With all these problems, it was a truck to avoid. Nissan obviously wanted to forget this model, but it has stuck in the minds of many buyers. If you are in the market for 2nd-hand trucks, it would be best to stay clear of Frontier models from 2005 to 2008.
