The Thames Trader, Ancestor Of The Pickup

eHive

Here’s An oldie, but unfortunately, not a goodie. The Ford Thames Trader may be one of the early pickup trucks, though it looked more and functioned more like a truck. It was produced from 1957-1965,and is considered to be one of the worst pickup trucks made. Basically marketed in England, it had a distinctive cab design which set it apart from other British commercial vehicles. It was not easy to maintain, and had lots of problems. The Trader was used for many different uses, from delivery trucks, to dump trucks, to cargo trucks. It was even customized for the double-decker buses ordered by London Transport. Thought you may appreciate a little history.
