The Hummer was one of the most popular trucks on the road, for those who could afford it. Originally manufactured for military use, it soon became an iconic vehicle for road use. While it may not be what pickup buyers really look for, with a smaller bed, terrible miles-per-gallon rating, and extravagant prices, it became a status symbol for those who could afford it. And it was ruggedly a handsome vehicle, surely a head-turner. Yet, more people were looking at smaller pickup trucks with better fuel efficiency. So maybe it was just a sign of the times, in fairness to the vehicle. Not really a disaster, but a letdown just as well.
