The Explorer Sport Trac Was A Bad Idea

Why would Ford turn an SUV into a truck? Seems like someone at Ford had the bright idea of replacing the Explorer’s cargo with a bed. Well, it did work for a while. The Sport Trac was only in production for four years (1st generation). Aside from the bed being too small, the truck was on the pricey side. It was also quite unreliable, and received many complaints. Eventually, the second generation Sport Trac was a slight improvement with less complaints and more reliable. Still, it only lasted 3 years after the first generation. Consumers who kept in mind value-for-money opted for other vehicles.
