When travelling in Peru, don’t hesitate to spend a bit more on public transportation and get the best, and reliable ones, whether it’s buses or taxis. Buses are considered the safest mode of transportation due to poor road conditions, and having big and sturdy rides minimize the risk of bogging down.  Look for the Cruz del Sur, Ormeño, Oltursa, or Civacompanies which are considered the best.  If you prefer a taxi, choose one that’s new or modern, with clear and authentic signages, to ensure that you will get to your destination safely, and without unnecessary delays.  Ride hailing services like Uber is also an option.
