Don’t Discuss These Topics

When having conversations with locals, it is polite to talk about family and children, such as asking women if they are married or have kids, local traditions and popular food, tourist spots or parts of the country you’ve visited, as well as Peruvian art and culture, as they will surely be more than happy to discuss these in detail with you, but don’t bring up government or politics, inquire about ancestry, drugs, or criticisms of the country or its ways.  Leave out discussing wages or how much they earn for a living or even the prices that you have paid for souvenirs that you have bought.
