Don’t Do These At The Dining Table

When dining in a Peruvian home, it is common for the food to be served in large portions and it is expected by the hosts that these will be cleaned out.  Don’t leave any leftovers as this might send the message that you didn’t like what they have served you, in addition to the food getting wasted.  This should keep you at the table long enough as it is also rude to stand up and leave the table if there are still people eating.  Don’t burp or make other eating noises as well, as this is frowned upon.  Prepare for a long dinner, as Peruvian meals are known to last hours, with many courses being served.
