Don’t Get Offended When Asked About Marital Status Or Children

Regardless if you’re a man or a woman, don’t get offended if people you just met, like a taxi driver, suddenly asks you if you are married or if you have children as this practice is not considered impolite, and is even expected, particularly for women.  This is obviously not something that they regard as private, unlike in most western countries.  However, discussing one’s income should be avoided, and should you get asked this question, just deflect by explaining that you are not as well off as you may seem.
