Don’t get upset if you happen to see locals littering.  Whether you’re in the countryside for a picnic or barbecue and see plastic forks and bottles strewn around, or at the beach in a nature reserve and find plastic bags full of trash, or if you happen to go through some nice scenic spots and you see a local just tossing out his trash, don’t let this get to you to the extent that you would talk or point this out as this is not worth ruining your day over.  Peru has been struggling with its waste and pollution problem for years, especially in Lima, so it’s not likely to change anytime soon.  Just do your part and don’t add to the problem.
