Patrick Dempsey is known to most as Dr. Derek Shepherd on Grey’s Anatomy. But this actor has been acting since the 80s, and it all began in Maine. Dempsey was born in Lewiston, Maine and grew up in the nearby towns of Turner and Buckfield. After attending high school in Buckfield High School and St. Dominic Regional High School, he moved to Houston, Texas. Few know that before acting, he was an accomplished juggler. In 1981, he placed second in the International Jugglers Association Championship. He has always kept a homebase in Maine, and tries to visit it once a month. Other famous people from Maine include horror maestro Stephen King, Anna Kendrick, and Timothy Simons.
