The long time host of The Price Is Right game show, Bob Barker, spent most of his youth on the Rosebud Indian Reservation in Mission, South Dakota. His mother was a teacher there. “We had what amounted to a one-room schoolhouse,” he told of his childhood in South Dakota. He considers this state home, although he was born in Washington state. He explained that this was a time before television, and radio was in its infancy. Well, he surely became part of American television history when he began hosting the game show The Price Is Right. It is the record holder for the longest running daytime game show, which he hosted from 1972 to 2007. Other well known people who call South Dakota their home state include Tom Brokaw, Mary Hart, and Amy Hill.
