Home to the legendary rock star Jimi Hendrix. He was born in and raised in Seattle, Washington. He received his first electric guitar from his father when he was 16. From there he became a famous musician rock star. Unfortunately he died at the young age of 28 in London from a drug overdose. He was a rock guitarist known for the geres of acid rock, psychedelic rock, blues rock, hard rock, and funk rock. In 2018, the Northwest African American History Museum in Seattle held an exhibit in Hendrix’s honor. “It gives people a chance to get to know Jimi, local west coast Seattle boy as he called himself,” explains his sister Janie.”Seattle shaped him and he certainly helped shape Seattle,” the museum’s executive director added. Other famous people from Washington include Bing Crosby, Craig T. Nelson, Kyle MacLachlan, and Emma Dumont.
