Debra Messing, the Will & Grace actress moved to East Greenwich, Rhode Island with her family when she was three years old. It was while attending East Greenwich High School that she became heavily involved in performing, and was part of several school productions and plays. She was even crowned Miss Junior Rhode Island in 1986. Messing mentioned that it took her several years to lose her Rhode Island accent while she trained to be an actress at New York University. “I had to study how to speak for three years and it was intense. I moved to Rhode Island when I was young…you know, ‘You goin’ to the Warwick Mall?”, she joked in her original accent on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.
