Ty Burell was an unknown kid from Grant Pass, Oregon. Who would have thought this kid would someday become a successful comedian and actor. He is best known as Phil Dunphy on the hit TV series Modern Family. He grew up in the small Southern Oregon town of Applegate, and attended Hidden Valley High School, where he played football. He then went on to Southern Oregon University in Ashland. His career has taken him away from Oregon, but he remains a loyal native of the state. And will continue to be Oregon’s pride. Other worthy Oregonians include River Phoenix, Olympic skater Tonya Harding, Kaitlin Olso, and Thomas Mann.
