Heavy rain has sparked hopes of containing the wildfire crisis, with cooler weather being experienced enabling the bigger fires to be brought under control, and allowing some rest for the firefighters that have been working non-stop to prevent the crisis from worsening, if at all possible. Heavy thunderstorms pelted some of the country’s regions with rain and hail, although it’s not enough to put out all the fires, with lightning even sparking new blazes. It has brought some relief, but it has also brought flooding and damage to some parts of Melbourne. Some areas even experienced a month’s worth of rain in a few hours. Unfortunately, this didn’t include the areas where the worst fires are, including East Gippsland.
