Finding Safety In The Life-Giving Waters

You would think that this is a scene from a movie where the people in the photo are trying to hide from a deranged killer. It’s actually worse, as the entire family fled their burning home and was forced into the water to survive the heat and the smoke emanating from the nearby wildfires. These are just some of the thousands of people who have fled to the shore or the waters to escape the flames and the toxic fumes. Although there were helicopters dumping water to help douse the flames, the blazes were so intense that people who did not evacuate chose to retreat to the shoreline or wharfs, some boarding their boats to try and wait it out.
