Due to the necessity and highly critical situation, thousands of army, navy, and air force personnel have been tossed together to fight the fires, the first such gathering in the nation’s history. Although more than 10,000 emergency personnel has been mobilized, help is always welcome. Over 150 American volunteer firefighters have joined the effort against the wildfires, and although there are some differences between the two country’s techniques, both share “a common system for managing wildland fires.” Together with firefighters from Canada, they give some relief to the Aussie firefighters who have been battling the bushfires for months now. It was said that there were “fires as far as you can see,” and that there may not be enough retardant “in the world” to put them all out.
