Several South Coast bushfire evacuation centers are opened to accommodate refugees, as a state of emergency is declared in New South Wales, while a state of disaster has been announced for Victoria. But those who are affected are not alone, as an outpouring of support has come from both near and far. Not everyone can physically battle the fires, but people have been helping in their own way, with popular celebrities pledging financial support for those affected. Unfortunately, the crisis has also been taken advantage of by unscrupulous people, as the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission warning people of scammers posing as bogus charities appealing for funds to be given to the victims.
