All Hands On Deck As Fires Continue To Spread

Despite the efforts of the fearless firefighters, fires continued to spread, with the country experiencing its hottest day in history with an average maximum temperature of 107.4°F or 41.9°C. Though Australia and New Zealand have been sending firefighters to the U.S. for almost two decades now, the latest in 2018 in California with 130 firefighters deployed, this will be the first time American firefighters will be deployed down under. This will be welcome news as the country lost two volunteer firefighters, Geoffrey Keaton, 32, and Andrew O’Dwyer, 36, when their truck hit a tree and rolled over as they were battling the blazes around Sydney, with three other firefighters from the Horsley Park Rural Fire Brigade injured.
