Fila Brasileiros originated from Brazil and are large dogs which can weigh over 100 pounds. Due to their size and strength, they are best for outdoor areas and are not recommended for owners who cannot handle them properly especially when there are young children around. They are fierce guard dogs with an intense loyalty to people they love that they’ll do anything in their power to ensure their safety. But this intense loyalty also means they immensely distrust strangers and can become overly aggressive toward people who try touching them in public. They also have a high prey drive that can be quite problematic in most environments since they will not hesitate to kill other animals.
