These “small but terrible” dogs originating from Mexico have a bad temper, are easily provoked, and will attack when they bark or growl. They are impatient and difficult to handle and are loyal only to their owner. Despite their tiny stature, they have large personalities and a surprisingly powerful bite at 250 PSI. They display a “small dog syndrome” and don’t consider themselves any less strong than large breed dogs. They lunge, snap, snarl, or growl at people and other animals that they perceive as threats. This combative behavior may be a defensive reaction for being the smallest dog known. Whatever the case may be, do not underestimate Chihuahuas.
