A Japanese breed, Akitas are big-boned and burly. They are known to be one of the most loyal dogs to their owners, but they are wary of strangers. Without proper training and care, this large, powerful breed with strong protective instincts can be dangerous to people they do not know, as well as to other dogs. Measuring around 28 inches and weighing up to 130 pounds, their sheer size alone can make them formidable and dangerous. With a bite force of 400 PSI, an attack from these dogs can have fatal consequences.
