These are the “Davids” among “Goliaths” with regard to dangerous dogs. While they are fun-loving, playful, and affectionate dogs, Bull Terriers are very masculine and powerful and can be trained just like pit bulls to be fighting dogs. Their unique look is an adaptation for this purpose. Do not underestimate their power because of their size. They’re exceptionally strong dogs, ranking first in pound-for-pound lean muscle tissue. They are known to have a strong “prey drive”, making them dangerous toward smaller animals, often chasing cats and other fleeing creatures. Without early socialization and training, Bull Terriers can be aggressive toward other dogs, animals, and strangers.
