Another not-so-large but masculine breed, Chow dogs were used as temple guards, hunting dogs, and royal protectors during the time of Chinese dynasties. They’re also known as Songshi Quan which means “puffy lion-dog,” and their appearance fits the description well. But even though they resemble a living teddy bear, don’t be fooled by their fluffy look because they can have a temper and be very aggressive and stubborn. They are also intensely territorial and have a naturally dominant personality. They have a bite force of 220 PSI and can be aggressive if not given proper training and socialization.
