Another massive and intimidating breed, this large Turkestan sheepdog comes from the mastiff family. They are also called the Kangal Shepherd, Kurdish Kangal, or Turkish Kangal. They are powerful and large and are meant to protect livestock from wolves and bears. They have one of the strongest bite forces at 743 PSI which makes them very dangerous to any unlucky human. They are not predatory, but they are very protective, and a Kangal attack can be devastating. Even though they’re loyal and affectionate to family members, they are wary of strangers and can be aggressive toward other pets. Like most dogs, they should be given early training and proper socialization.
