American clothing fashion brand and retailer Guess announced in June its permanent closure of around 100 stores in the US and China over the next 18 months. Carlos Alberini, Guess CEO announced these shutterings saying, “the recent store performance and expected demand under our new normal model made very clear that our store portfolios around the world could be optimized to increase profitability.” These 100 store closures make up about 9% of the company’s total store network.
