The parent company Transformco first announced last November that they plan to close 51 Sears stores by mid-February 2020. These closures represent more than one-third of its remaining large-format stores. What was one of the largest retail entities in the world, after another round of closures during the summer, there is an estimate of only 60 full-line Sears branches that remain to be open. As part of the Sears-branded stores, Transformco also operates the Hardware, Home Life and Auto Center branches, although it is unknown as to how many of these are still open.
