The stationary and upscale greeting card store chain Papyrus files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Owner of the brand, Schurman Fine Paper is shuttering all of its 254 stores all across US and Canada while over 1,000 employees will lose their jobs. The company opened in 1950 selling wholesale imported stationary and cards and expanded into retail stores by 1973. The first Papyrus store opened in Berkeley, California and expanded into 500 branches which included American Grettings, Carlton Cards and Paper Destiny brands.
