Stepping Up For The Men

Infonet

With the men off to combat, the women who were not enlisted and sent to the combat zone or engaged in manual labor for the war efforts were left to the jobs of their male counterparts, which include fishing, as shown in the photo. During the war, women were expected to carry out three main tasks which include assisting the recruitment process by encouraging their male relatives to join the fight, taking on all the burdens associated with running the household, and taking over jobs in the agricultural or farming, and industrial sector so they can provide food for their families.
