Photo showing a Cambodian guerilla being carried to a makeshift operating room in the mangrove swamps of the Ca Mau Peninsula, on the southern tip of Vietnam, after being wounded in a bombing attack. Cambodia became embroiled in the war as the North Vietnamese were using its borders for its supply line, leading to the American bombings, and attacks by U.S. and South Vietnamese forces on Cambodian villages. The carpet-bombings carried out by U.S. B-52 bombers went on for four years, from 1969 to 1973. This resulted to an estimated 50,000 fatalities, but this figure was said to be at the very low end.
