Here Are The New Recruits

Piri

New recruits for the North Vietnamese Army are being assessed in Haiphong, the Northern Vietnam city which sustained heavy bombing from the U.S. forces as it was the north’s only major port. Recruiting was initially limited to volunteers in 1962, with eligibility limited to men with ages ranging from 17 to 30. After a year, women were accepted, and were mostly assigned to logistic agencies. Propaganda meetings calling for patriotism and nationalism were the primary method in recruiting soldiers, and though there were volunteers, those who didn’t were assigned to hamlet guerilla squads.
