Joining The Fight For The Salvation Of The Land

Blox Images

A look of eagerness, and even happiness, is shown on the faces of these young North Vietnamese volunteers as they march for the Youth Shock Brigades Against the Americans for National Salvation, the largest repair organization for the Northern side at more than 50,000 laborers. This social and military corps was first utilized during the conflict with the French and was reactivated for the Vietnam War. Composed mainly of young females aged between 15 and 30, they were sent to the frontlines accompanied by militia and self-defense troops, and were tasked to repair damages caused by bombings to bridges, roads, tunnels, and other structures.
